Stealing a meme from Christina. That's friendship fer ya. Fortunately, theft isn't one of the deadly sins.

WRATH

1. Who did you last get angry with?
Evil child on Lufthansa who kept squealing about how she didn't like chicken nuggets. Then, dammit, give them to me!

2. What is your weapon of choice?
A stack of papers. A textbook or a dictionary, if I can get one. Though I may be overstepping my own weight-lifting prowess with the dictionary.

3. Would you hit a member of the opposite sex?
No. I don't hit people.

4. How about the same sex?
No. Again, I don't hit people. Petty pinching is where it's at.

5. Who was the last person who got really angry at you?
Uh... probably my mom, because she's the only one to get mad at me. For what, I don't remember. I'd swear I'm innocent, but no one who knows me would believe me anyway. Sadness.

Most people don't get really mad at me. I really luck out with the nice people around me. (And yeah, I know I deserve it when my mom gets mad at me once in a blue moon. Shh.)

Whiners. People who ask questions without thinking things through. Bathos, generally, when the amusement dies.

Eat chocolate! Totally. But I think that's gluttony, not sloth. Clean up my desk area.

1:00. I think it was crazy jet-lag, actually.

No one in particular. Most people I'll see in class, and after gabbing with Christina on the phone, I've paid off all my outstanding contact debts, I think.

I didn't nab the drink like I was supposed to because I didn't hear you, mommy. It truly isn't my fault that the drink almost capsized, leaving untold sugary damage to the car's footmats. O:) Needless to say, neither the excuse nor the angelic *coughcoughhack* expression worked on my mother dearest. Hey, maybe this is why she's the last person who was mad at me.

No. Remember the short attention span for #7 under Wrath? Sometimes it's a saving grace.

When I went on a walking tour of the UCLA campus. My legs are going to die in college, I know it.

Um, bottled water? Or maybe Jamba Juice's Strawberry Nirvana. I only drink water, milk, and Strawberry Nirvanas, so there aren't many options here.

That's me. I'll keep the plural too.

None. Unless you count the rice wine whose alcohol's been boiled out of random Chinese broth #166.

Eww. NO.

No. I probably should, since the doctor says I'm underweight. I don't get it.

I'm listening to sad Chinese mp3 songs; their plaintive melody, the low moaned questions, the minor keys all conspire to weigh me down, pull me into the abyss of melancholy. And I let those notes carry me where they will, because I am not so far gone as to not be able to derive some breathless pleasure from the pathos that calls back my wandering, errant muse and prevails upon her to write me the prettiest tripe.

Dang, I have the world's most crazy mood swings. This entry started out contemplative, but even as I was typing out the sentences above, I'm already back in that cheery holiday spirit. And absolutely lovin' it.

I'm trapped between ennui and a giddy holiday high. Then I read Pratchett, or Wodehouse, and find myself firmly stuck in high gear. Fun stuff. ^_^

This week has been busy. Not surprising, considering how destiny and the elements all love to torment me after getting a thick, lovely book that I really, really NEED to read. That I, for once showing some self-restraint, have thus far refrained from even opening. Bleh, self-restraint be da... nah, not finishing /that/ sentence, if only to keep from shocking certain friends.

As Christina so nicely put it, le temps est tres pluvieux. It was an enjoyable change at first--before it got real old real fast. Especially when the weather necessitates the opening up of... The Umbrella.

Yeah, I know--anticlimax in action. Umbrellas + Judy = one-sided ph33r from a certain human. /And/ they mock me with their refusal to open and close properly. It's a conspiracy, I tell you, a conspiracy! T_T

On a school-related note, English is invading my mind. After researching Emerson and Thoreau for the American Authors Timeline and, later, researching Transcendentalism for the ISMs project, my mind can mangle good wholesome words like "entertainment" into "Transcendentalism." I wonder if I'm petty enough to try to spam Mr. Lee via email for this.... Our class has come up with a chant that would be perfectly apropos: "Sinners in the hands of an angry Lee."

Thanks to Christina's present, the assignment to find examples of parallel structure will go along quickly. Yay for Ambrose Bierce and _The Devil's Dictionary_.

History--Did really well on the multiple-choice/short-answer portion of the history test. Squee. Or something. Dr. Sutro's DBQ essay question creamed our class, though my score was actually good, comparatively speaking. Christina, save your poor, defenseless little fire demon from the skeeriness of tricksy head demons and enlighten me about the ways of the document-based question! Trickiness notwithstanding, Dr. Sutro gives us lovely prose/verse pieces for writing take-home essays. I loved Robert E. Lee's General Order No. 9, and now I totally <3 Carl Sandburg's "Chicago."

Just 'cause

I have to say, taking the PSATs really wakes up the blogger in me.

Rather than starting at 8:00 AM like the rest of the normal schools, AHS /had/ to be the non-conformist and start check-ins at 8:30. Meh. If it weren't for the fact that I believed the 8:00 start-time contingent, I could be sitting pretty and gloating. I ended up wandering the largely empty school until I found two Jessicas and volunteered myself to tag along after them. At least I got to walk off my case of nerves.

The proctor, Mr. Jones, was really nice. I bet he's a cool bio teacher, too. No wonder the people who took biology during the summer don't seem to share my aversion to the course.

My faulty chair was Not Cool, even though it quite efficiently broke my early morning stupor when the seat tried to tilt me into the desk.

The test went all right. I was a massive paranoid during the math sections--after calculus, the PSAT problems seem almost... well, sinister. Kept waiting for the test to spring traps that never showed up. ._.;; For some reason, the sections seemed to go by so much faster this year. I'd stress and fret lots over this, but I didn't worry during the test, and it seems rather pointless to start now.

After the test, I convinced my mom to mosey on over to the mall. Gotta <3 Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Will be simpering for days yet because of this. Here's to hoping Mr. Lee doesn't give much homework so I can get a chance to read it.
